Checkers Quilting Class

Learn to piece the Checkers quilt, a bold, graphic design built from simple squares that's perfect for building confidence with precision cutting and matching seams. This beginner-friendly class walks you through the pattern by Ellen Perez, from fabric selection to a finished top.

What you'll learn: In this class, we'll cover straight-line piecing, pressing techniques for crisp seams, and layout strategies for arranging your checkerboard pattern. You'll also explore alternative colorways so you can make the quilt truly your own.

Sizes covered: Infant (36" x 36"), Throw (72" x 72"), and Queen (90" x 108") — choose the size that fits your project.

By the end of class, you'll have a completed quilt top ready for quilting and binding, plus the skills to tackle your next checkerboard-style project with confidence.

Materials Needed: (*Note all supplies purchased day of class in shop are 10% off)

· Checkers Quilt Pattern

· 2 different color fabrics (yardage will vary according to size made)

· 1/3 yard to 3/4 yard for binding (depending on size made)

Students Should Bring:

· Sewing Machine

· Needles

· Empty bobbins

· Thread

· Snips

· 45mm rotary cutter

· Rotary cutting mat

· Stripology Rulers

· 1/4" presser foot

· Long straight quilting pins

· Fabric marking pen or pencil
