The Basics Of T-Shirt Quilting



Do you have several T-shirts from years past begging to be upcycled? What about high-school events or sports shirts? If so, come learn how to transform those shirts, and turn them into a beautiful display of memories.

Our Basics of T-Shirt Quilting Class will teach you how to:

Transform your T-Shirt into a quilt block
Properly stabilize the fabric
Assemble each block with a quarter inch seam allowance
Properly frame your quilt blocks


Materials Needed: (*Note all supplies purchased day of class in shop are 10% off)D

  • 20 T-Shirts
  • 3 yards of interfacing SF101
  • 1 yard of accent fabric
  • 2 yards of different accent fabric
Students Should Bring:
  • Sewing Machine
  • Needles
  • Empty bobbins
  • Thread
  • Snips
  • 45mm rotary cutter
  • Rotary cutting mat
  • Long quilting ruler
  • 1/4" presser foot
  • Long straight quilting pins
  • Fabric marking pen or pencil
Note* Students should have basic quilting skills to participate in this class.
Note* All materials, tools, and notions can be purchased in shop on the day of class at 10% off. If supplies are needed make sure you arrive in class early so that you have enough time to shop.

A minimum of 2 students is required for this class to meet. If a class is cancelled due to low enrollment, you will receive a full refund or you can be rescheduled to a later class.

Requirements: Students must have basic quilting knowledge to participate in this class.
Instructor: Matt
Instructor Bio: Matthew Modesitt, affectionately known as our analytical quilter, crunches numbers by day and creates beautiful quilts by night. As an experienced quilter, he is dedicated to helping students build strong skills and creative confidence. He instructions are clear, approachable, and his techniques make quilting accessible for all skill levels. His classes focus on learning and enjoying the process as much as the finished quilt.
