Beginner Patternmaking: Leggings
Learn how to use your measurements to create a pattern that fits you like a glove. This class will introduce students to patternmaking by creating a simple legging pattern. Students will use their custom pattern to sew a pair of elastic waist leggings.
This class includes:
- Drafting paper
- Drafting pencils
- Knit fabric
- Elastic
Students must bring:
- Sewing machine
- Sewing tools and notions (Scissors, pins, marking tools)
- Yardstick
- See-through ruler 2" x 18"
- French curve ruler
- Thread
Note* A minimum of 2 students is required for this class to meet. If a class is cancelled due to low enrollment, you will receive a full refund or you can be rescheduled to a later class.

| Skill Details: | Student must know the basics of the sewing machine. How to thread it, wind the bobbin, and comfortably sew in a straight line. |
| Materials Included: | Pattern drafting paper, drafting pencil, and 1 1/2 yard knit fabric 1 1/2 yards of 1 |
| Requirements: | Student must be ages 16+, and must bring their machines to class. Students should also bring a yardstick, their favorite fabric marking tools, a see-through ruler, a french curve ruler, paper scissors, fabric scissors, and thread. |

| Instructor Bio: | Mia Green serves as the Director of Education at Hoops & Needles, bringing years of experience in teaching the art of sewing to both adults and children through dynamic in-person and online classes. She has partnered with cities across Texas to lead engaging summer sewing programs and fashion camps for youth, as well as professional development and team-building workshops for adults. Now as part of the Hoops & Needles team, Mia is excited to offer her expertise in garment sewing to customers through a variety of in-person and virtual class experiences. |
